The Monarch Laundry site, Belfast :: Shared Description
Now closed and demolished, the Monarch Laundry, at the corner of the Donegall Road and Monarch Street opened in 1904. After closure the premises were let to other businesses. The buildings are now demolished and the site is offered for sale. The agent’s brochure (May 2012) includes this description “The subject benefits from full planning consent for the following: Application No: Z/2000/1481/F Application Type: FULL Site for Proposed Development: 451-453 Donegall Road, Belfast Description of Proposal: Erection of Neighbourhood foodstore & related site works”. The photographs submitted by me appear as a matter of geographical and historical record only. I have no connection with any of the parties involved in the sale or any proposed development.
Note added 15 August 2015: the site is now the subject of the following application for planning permission “LA04/2015/0598/O Former Monarch Laundry Site 451-455 Donegall Road Belfast BT12 6FS Residential development comprising 60no. apartments”.
