Grecian Mills :: Shared Description
The Grecian Mills site is particularly interesting for the range of buildings of different types and dates. The original mill of 5 storeys dates from 1845 and represents a very large mill for this date.
Subsequent buildings, mainly concerned with secondary operations to the main spinning process, are dated 1859, 1869, 1878 and 1925. The last named is an unusual late extension to the original 1845 mill in an architectural style that matches new-build mills of the same period. The site is Listed Grade II, principally because of the way that it represents the organic growth of the mill with a diversity of buildings.
Most of the buildings are still in use housing a diversity of industrial, warehousing and retail businesses.
