Enclosure south of Brands Hill :: Shared Description

On the east and south-east slopes of Brands Hill is an extensive prehistoric landscape that contains an enclosure, unenclosed round houses and associated field systems and cairn-field. The enclosure is the most prominent feature of the site and has massive dry stone walls up to 8m wide and 1.5m high LinkExternal link

Although a later sheepfold has been built on it, the original walling can be seen in places and the inner and outer faces are visible. This structure has been likened to a Scottish dun. Two medieval shielings lie next to this enclosure.
