St Luke's church, North Carlton :: Shared Description

Grade II*listed

The church originally dates from the 15th century but was rebuilt in 1771-73. It was restored in 1897.
There is a western tower, nave, chancel with apse and south porch.
The tower is of two stages with an embattled parapet, the corner pinnacles are 15th century. Buttresses were added later.
The nave has round headed windows with a slate roof, the apse has a lead roof with small round windows.

The interior is plain with a round arch to the apse, the nave has wood panelling to dado height.
The pulpit and font are from the 18th century.

There are two small brass plaques to the Monson family of North Carlton Hall on the chancel floor.
The church of South Carlton, which contains a large monument to the Monson family, is visible from the churchyard.
